The 2010s sure were a rollercoaster decade, and 2019 was no exception.
Through all the memes, trends (someone please tell us ‘flossing’ is over), and Snapchat filters; we’ve taken some time to stop and reflect. Here’s a snapshot of our achievements from the year that was, featuring some of your favourite things, a call for feedback and our ambitions for the year to come. (Our ‘2020 vision’ if you will - there, we said it!)
2019 was the year of the launch, starting with our very own nail treatment range. Many of you were asking for nail care products, and boy, were we thrilled to bring you nail treatments that look good, do great and are made with certified organic ingredients.
The range is lovingly designed in Australia and made in Europe to the most stringent ethical standards, guaranteeing you high quality nail care.
Packed with natural oils and antioxidants aplenty, our range nourishes your nails at every stage of wear. From lightning-fast top coats to overnight masks, oils and a base coat to care for you underneath it all - they really are botanical beauties.

So we sealed the deal with a drop-dead gorgeous lippie range. Sure, we might’ve had fingertips covered. But many of you wanted more, so we created the ‘Hyperreal’ liquid lipstick range and it’s been blowing kisses and minds since September. 😘
We put a lot of work into creating this ‘holy grail’ of lipsticks, enlisting the help of ethical producers in Italy who specialise in high-quality, cruelty-free, vegan products. And the result is a range that’s non-sticky, super-pigmented, non-bleed and super-lasting – basically everything you thought couldn’t co-exist in a lip colour.

At Kester Black, we pride ourselves on our B Corp certification, because they’re so darn hard to attain. Basically, it means that our business and our products meet the most rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency.
We became re-accredited in 2019, making us as accountable as ever. To us, this isn’t just a badge of honour (or a cool logo to slap on our products) it’s a pledge to continue changing the industry as we grow.
For months, Australia’s bushfires have devastated our country, communities and wildlife; reminding us that it’s as important as ever to minimise our impact on the earth and to support our fellow humans who are doing it tough.
As part of our brand DNA, we contribute $1 from every order (on your behalf) and are committed to donating 2% of all revenue, including in-kind donations, to registered charities every year.
In 2019, we donated over $32,00 to charity; eclipsing our 2% contribution commitment.
From our humble beginnings, we’ve been spreading our kind cosmetics across the southern hemisphere from Australia (and New Zealand).
And last year, we finally expanded to the US, EU and UK markets with our nail polish hitting the shelves in Liberty, a premium department store in London.

We’ve been busy bees working away on a hive of exciting new projects for the year. From fresh colours to an expanded range of cosmetics, and brand new shiny things that we know you’ll love - it’s safe to say our ambitions are high.
